As Aryan mentioned over on his blog, we were heavily caught up getting our board games collection ported over to Android. On top of that, I took a much-needed long break to step back and recharge, which meant all active development had to be put on pause for a bit. Today, we are officially dropping FukeX, our brand-new, completely free, and open-source Android media player!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you use TalkBack on Android, you already know the struggle of finding a player that isn’t clunky, broken, or stripped of all the cool features. Because we are screen reader users ourselves, we got tired of waiting for a proper solution and decided to build one from the ground up in Kotlin using ExoPlayer. FukeX is fast, fully accessible, and packed with the good stuff\u2014like smooth local and SMB network streaming, custom crossfading, volume boost, playlist privacy, and a built-in file picker designed to make navigation painless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You might wonder why we picked this specific date to drop the app. August 15th was chosen as a tribute to our Indian Army , letting us celebrate Indian Independence Day right alongside the official birthday of FukeX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
